How the REC Selling Process Works

The accreditation of renewable energy project process is not that straightforward as it is complicated, and you might not sure what to fill up or what kind of document is required. Additionally, finding customer is not as easy as you think. You might give up in between the process.

Understanding Registry Fees: I-REC vs APX TIGRs

Apart from that, if your asset capacity is not high and not producing a lot of RECs, then it might not be profitable if you opt for trading yourself. Example, in the case of I-REC registration, you need to pay one time account fee (EUR500) and annual generator subscription fee (EUR2,000). Therefore, starting for I-REC would cost you EUR2,500. In the case of APX TIGRs registration, it does not have one time account fee but its annual generator subscription fee would cost up to USD1,000. I-REC & APX TIGRs charge differently for different capacity of generator size. I-REC will straightaway charges 5 years annual generator subscription fee while APX TIGRs charges annually on the generator subscription fee. On top of that, registry will also charge an issuance fee for each RECs issued as well. So, if residential owner of solar PV want to register and trade themselves, it will be at loss. So, it is better to let Asiarecs to manage on your behalf.

Benefits of Using Asiarecs as Your Aggregator

We as aggregators, we can help to register your generator/project/asset, issue REC and sell on your behalf. The advantage of this is you would not need to pay for the annual account fee. As for the generator subscription & issuance fee, we can craft out an arrangement that suit you. Apart from that, if your client wanted to do redeem your RECs, you might not sure how to do redemption on their behalf. Redemption is one way process where, once it is redeemed, you would not be able to reverse it. Different registry would need different kind of information. So, it is better to leave it to professional. If you want to have the flexibility to trade yourself, we can create sub account in I-REC or APX TIGRs platform for you so that you can trade freely. We are one of very few aggregators that are engaging residential solar PV owner to register their asset and issue RECs in small quantity. If you are Renewable Energy Project/Asset/Generator owner, please liaise with us. We will provide you more information and explain to you how this works, without any obligation.
